Tanner Burns

Tanner Burns, a Tucker County High School senior, now owns two tractors he built with his own hands after entering the annual Delo Tractor Restoration Competition, sponsored by Chevron.

The first tractor, a 1952 Farmall Super C Tractor was completed in 2015. Although he did not make it to the top 12 finalists that year, it did not dampen his passion for tractor restoration.

Burns is completing this year with a 1968 International Farmall 544 tractor. He is one of twelve finalists that will be attending the National FFA Convention October 25 – 29.

He will present before a panel of judges; he will be required to deliver an oral presentation, a workbook containing all aspects of the process, on his restoration project, Judging will be based on the quality of the restoration effort, documentation, safety precautions and the oral presentation. There will a Q&A period where the judges will ask questions concerning the tractor restoration project.

Winners will be announced on Thursday, October 26, 2017 in Indianapolis. Burns will be traveling with the Tucker County FFA, attending the national convention events as well.
