Canaan Valley NWR is going to host a Ribbon Cutting and Grand Opening for the new ADA Canoe/Kayak Launch on Friday May 25, between 10 and 11 a.m.

In cooperation with Tucker County Chamber of Commerce, CVNWR staff invites you to attend this grand occasion.  This is part of a larger project that Refuge Manager, Ron Hollis will tell you about shortly before the Ribbon Cutting.  Join us in celebrating the expanded opportunities that will come from this effort.  We would like to thank everyone who was involved in this process from local officials, volunteers, staff, and contractors that were involved in this process.  Canaan Valley NWR wants to be an integral part of the community by expanding the opportunities for people to enjoy the Blackwater River and the Refuge.

Following the Ribbon Cutting, we will open the canoe/kayak launch officially to the public.  This will be just in time for the Memorial Day weekend, so bring your canoe or kayak and give it a try.  Be sure to enjoy all the events that will be taking place in the surrounding area.  Be sure to come and check out the award winners from the Endangered Species Art contest that was held at the West Virginia Ecological Field Office this past weekend.
