1c6662ee-8808-40e4-90a0-e6170a75908bDAVIS, W.Va. – The weather is warm now, but soon it will be winter recreation season and Canaan Valley Resort State Park is getting ready.
New equipment is being added to the resort’s 12 T40 snow guns, doubling Canaan’s snowmaking capability. The rental shop is increasing its inventory and will provide Elan downhill skis, snowboards and snow boots; Salomon downhill ski boots; Elan cross-country skis, boots and poles; Evo snowshoes and Jackson Softec ice skates.
“We are anticipating an excellent ski season this winter and into 2017,” said Canaan Valley Resort General Manager Steve Drumheller. “Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area is a popular destination among skiers of all abilities and attracts winter recreationists from across the United States. We think these upgrades in snowmaking equipment and equipment availability will draw even more winter sports enthusiasts.”
The slopes open in mid-December. These enhancements follow the opening of glade skiing areas in 2015, an addition that has proven to be exceptionally popular with the many experienced skiers who visit the resort.
The ski resort has a summit elevation of 4,280 feet above sea level, 91 skiable acres, four lifts – one quad, two triples and a magic carpet, a terrain park and ski school. With 47 trails and slopes, the Critters Crawl beginner area – a dedicated beginner instruction trail serviced by its own magic carpet – and ski school for private and group lessons, Canaan Valley Resort Ski Area offers a memorable winter adventure for every skier and snowboarder.
The 160 guest rooms at Canaan Lodge, restaurants, cabins, grab-and-go-café, indoor swimming and other amenities offer a year-round destination for a getaway or a long stay. Learn more about Canaan Valley Resort State Park, packages events and season ski promotions at www.canaanresort.com.
