Congresswoman Shelly Moore Capito was the keynote speaker at the WV Forestry Association Annual Meeting. The event was held at the Canaan Valley Resort and there were approximately 200 people in attendance.
During the meeting Capito said, “As members of the West Virginia Forestry Association, you play a vital role in our state’s economy. Employing over 30,000 people in West Virginia and contributing $3.2 billion annually to our state’s economy, it is imperative that Congress provides you with certainty you need to continue to grow.
However, regulations coming from bureaucrats in Washington, D.C. threaten this vital industry and West Virginia jobs. West Virginia foresters adhere to the most stringent regulations in our region, and this must stop.
I want you to know that I am committed to rolling back these onerous regulations that create uncertainty and preventing the industry from contributing even more to our state.”
The West Virginia Forestry Association is a non-profit organization funded by its membership. Our members include individuals and businesses involved in forest management, timber production, firewood production and wood product manufacturing. More information here: http://www.wvfa.org/index.html
