On Tuesday, Jan. 24 at approximately 11:46 a.m. a two vehicle accident occurred on US219. According to West Virginia State Police Office of Public Affairs, Lt. Michael Baylous, of South Charleston Headquarters, a blue 2008 Honda Civic was traveling north on US219 and Cpl. D.W. Burge, of the West Virginia State Police, Parsons Detachment, was traveling south.
Baylous said the weather was heavy fog, snow and slick road conditions. The driver of the Honda Civic lost control of his vehicle, crossed the path of Burge and was struck in the passenger side. Both drivers were transported to Davis Medical Center. He said Burge had minor injuries and was released, the driver of the Honda Civic was later transferred to Ruby Memorial Hospital with severe trauma.
