THOMAS, W.Va. – People looking for the comfort, convenience and security of being part of a larger retirement community but yet not the burden and cost of owning their own home will soon have another option available.
Cortland Acres is completing the construction of four patio townhomes. The homes are located within The Pines, which is an established, independent living, retirement community on the campus of Cortland Acres. The new patio townhomes are a smaller version of the existing garden homes.
The patio townhomes are available for sale, with occupancy beginning in late 2017. Cortland Development Director Dan Bucher said they are an ideal option for people who want to downsize or who may choose to spend part of the year in a warmer climate.
“People’s needs change, and Cortland Acres wants to be responsive to those changing needs.” Bucher said. “These patio townhomes truly offer the best of all worlds – a peaceful, and relaxed setting with the amenities and services you need to live an active and independent life. ”
The patio townhomes consist of 900 square feet with one and a half bathrooms. All units have porches and a small exterior storage room.
A monthly fee covers additional services such as interior and exterior maintenance, repair and replacement of appliances, snow removal and lawn care and 24-hour emergency response. Residents of Cortland’s campus are welcome to participate in the variety of social and wellness activities provided. Transportation is scheduled to local businesses and also to distant shopping centers.
Cortland Administrator Beth Clevenger said the patio townhomes are an ideal option for people who no longer want a large home or yard to maintain but still want to enjoy the outdoors and natural beauty of Tucker County.
“If you want to head south to Florida for the winter, we’ll keep an eye on your home for you,” Clevenger noted. “When the snow melts, just come home, unlock your door and return to your relaxing Tucker County life.”
The new homes in The Pines have a purchase price of $135,000 to $140,000. For an appointment to discuss and tour The Pines, contact Paul Rudy at 304-476-3360 or 304-463-4181.
In addition to the new patio townhomes, the Cortland Acres campus includes a 94-bed long-term care facility, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation center and programs, rental apartments in Pineview and garden homes in The Pines.
