Cynthia Kolsun, Regent, called the meeting to order when The Daughters of the American Revolution, Blackwater Chapter, met at Little Ande’s Restaurant in Parsons on Sept. 7 at 10:30 a.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Phyllis Garcia and Darla Rapp led the group reciting the American’s Creed and Preamble to the Constitution.

The President General’s Message was read by Sue Silk; the Indian Minutes by Wanda Booth and an article on the New River Gorge from the DAR Magazine, by Darla. Minutes were read and approved and the Treasurer’s Report given. Wanda, corresponding secretary, read correspondence from DAR members who attended the Central District meeting held Aug. 17 at First United Methodist Church in Parsons. Many expressions of appreciation for a job well done by Blackwater members and the church ladies for a delicious meal served.

The Observance of Constitution Week will be observed by the Signing of a Proclamation on Monday, Sept. 16 by Mayor Dorothy Judy at City Hall.

The next meeting, Oct. 19, will be in Observance of Domestic Violence Month. Our guest speaker will be Donna Helmick. A lengthy discussion concerning the meeting schedule for the remainder of this year was held. All members and prospective members are urged to attend.

Those attending were Darla Rapp, Phyllis Garcia, Sue Silk, Betty Knicley, Wanda Booth and Cynthia Kolsun, Regent.
