Elkins, WV – The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE) has recognized West Virginia Gastroenterology and Endoscopy & Davis Medical Center for quality and safety in gastro-intestinal (GI) endoscopy. Davis Medical Center is the only hospital in West Virginia to achieve this recognition.

The ASGE Endoscopy Unit Recognition Program honors endoscopy centers that have demonstrated a commitment to quality and patient safety as evidenced by meeting the program’s rigorous criteria, which includes meeting guidelines on privileging, quality assurance, endoscope reprocessing, infection control and ensuring staff competency. “We are honored to be recognized once again for our efforts to enhance quality and safety in our endoscopy center,” said Dr. Ratnakar. “Through ongoing education and continued compliance with the ASGE requirements, we demonstrate our dedication to the delivery of high-quality patient care.” West Virginia Gastroenterology and Endoscopy & Davis Medical Center have been certified by the ASGE Unit Recognition Program since 2010.
To be recognized by ASGE, a center must demonstrate continued staff competency, demonstrate the adoption of unit policies specific to ongoing assessment of performance relative to key quality indicators, infection control and prevention. Davis Medical Center uses the most current and advanced technology to provide endoscopy services including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, biliary and pancreatic endotherapy, painless hemorrhoid ablation and other services to diagnose and treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.
Dr. Ratnakar is a member of the Davis Health System medical staff, and is board certified in gastroenterology, internal medicine and geriatric medicine.
