Elkins, WV – For those suffering from non-healing wounds, a new service at Davis Medical Center can help provide relief and treatment.
The National Alliance of Wound Care (NAWC) recently granted full certification to Dr. Johanna Biola and Josette Batsenikos, FNP. Biola and Batsenikos, both family care providers in DMC’s outpatient center, will assist patients who suffer from chronic wounds.
Common types of non-healing wounds include pressure sores, surgical wounds and foot ulcers due to diabetes, poor blood flow, or swollen legs.
Biola and Batsenikos successfully passed the examination to become Wound Care Certified (WCC®). The WCC credential is a multidisciplinary certification available to licensed wound care professionals from across the healthcare continuum. This certification is the professional recognition that Dr. Biola and Batsenikos possess the qualifications to deliver the highest standard in wound care to their patients.
“Some patients travel outside our area for wound care. Now we can better serve these patients by making treatment accessible and convenient,” said Biola.
“The training included evidence based guidelines about the latest wound care techniques and principles. Both Josette and I are excited to care for those with chronic wounds.”
