The Tucker County Senior Travelers visited Lancaster, PA in November. They were able to visit the National Christmas Center and see a wide variety of Christmas displays. One of the highlights there was a display of Woolworth’s 5 and 10 Store. It brought back many pleasant memories.

Another stop was at the Sight & Sound Theater to see the production of “The Miracle of Christmas.” The productions at this theater are all based on Biblical stories and are live productions including live animals. The horses, camels, sheep etc. walk right down the aisles. If you have never seen one of these productions, put it on your bucket list. These shows sell out quickly. The Senior Center is planning a trip for this July to see “Samson.” When they called in September for seats in June they were sold out! If you are interested in joining us, call the Senior Center at 304-478-2423 to get you name on the list.

Another highlight of the trip was a stop at the Plain and Fancy Restaurant. After enjoying a wonderful Amish meal the visitors were treated to a “Chalk Talk.” This was a session where they heard the story of the Christmas tree while an artist drew a beautiful chalk drawing from scratch. It was amazing to see the picture develop from a few seemingly random strokes into an awesome winter scene. The canvas was given to the group. Jared Parsons made a beautiful oak frame and Bill Dilly hung it in the Parsons Senior Center for all to see. The picture accompanying this article doesn’t do it justice. Please stop by the Center and see the actual picture.

All of the travelers agreed this was a great trip.
