
The Fairview Homecoming Organization held its 50th Anniversary picnic celebration on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at the Good Tidings Church pavilion. The group was organized in the spring and summer of 1976 for the mowing and upkeep of both lower and upper Fairview Cemeteries on Location Road. President Scott Hebb explained that our group meets each year on the last Sunday in June with a Homecoming picnic and short business meeting to continue maintenance of both cemeteries with the goal of obtaining perpetual care in future years.
Kaylee Nedrow read the names of loved ones who have passed away since our meeting on June 29, 2025. The list included John Dale White, William “Bill” Conrad, Ricky Knotts, Sr., Terrance A. Skipper, Sam Lipscomb, Sr., Chris Sigley, Gail Weese, Starr Harvey, Lynn Nedrow Horton, Lorrie “Gene” Butts, Charles “Joe” Thompson, Andrew Cale, Richard Marsh, Dale Hebb, Judy Knotts Evans, Frank Jones, Sondra Jeanie Knicley Pingley, Judy Long, Sandy Kisamore Hardy, Hoye Lynn Carr, Elsie Davis, Travis Veal and Randy Weese.
Fairview Cemetery Fundraiser cookbooks are available for purchase for $15.00 each. All proceeds will be deposited into the Fairview Cemetery Bank checking account to take care of mowings. Cookbooks are available by calling Bonnie at 304-614-7243.
Prizes consisted of handcrafted baskets made and donated by Ralph and Narel Hebb and tie-dyed fleece throws made by April Simmons, “All Tied Up in Savers Fork”. The youngest boy and girl were also given a Bicentennial Liberty Bell Bank from the Tucker County Bank in 1976, donated by Bonnie Knotts in memory of Melissa Anne Hebb.
The youngest girl present was 2-year-old Liberty Hope Hebb born on May 23, 2024. Liberty is the daughter of Zach and Jennifer Hebb from Penrose, NC. Liberty has ten siblings, Alethia, Hezekiah, Trinity, Eden, Lazarus, Daily Grace, Zion, Jubilee, Ezekiel and Mercy.
The youngest boy attending was one-month-old Sutton Wayne Nedrow born on May 24, 2026. Sutton is the son of Nick and Taylor Nedrow of Hog Back Road, Eglon, WV and has a brother, Colter Reed and a sister, Charlotte Lorene.
Betty Knicley was once again the oldest lady present at 90 years old. Betty’s birthday is on March 2, 1936, and she lives in Parsons, WV.
Earl Bohon was the oldest man present at 86 years old. Earl’s birthdate is January 8, 1940, and he now lives in Cleveland, Ohio.
Zachary and Jennifer Hebb and family were given the prize for traveling the farthest for the Homecoming from Penrose, NC about 440 miles. They also had the youngest little girl attending today.
