Farmers Need To Register Aboveground Storage Tanks By Oct. 1

The West Virginia Department of Agriculture would like to remind all state farmers about the registration requirements for aboveground storage tanks and the impending Oct. 1, 2014 deadline established by legislation that was signed into law by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin earlier this year.

All aboveground tanks over 1,320 gallons must be registered with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection by Oct. 1, this includes water and milk tanks.

Tank owners must register online and can do so by visiting the WVDEP Electronic Submission System website link at https://apps.dep.wv.gov/eplogin.cfm

Online registration is required unless it is documented that the tank owner does not have capabilities to do online registration.

For other registration assistance and questions the DEP encourages farmers to visit the AST assistance page on its website at http://www.dep.wv.gov/WWE/abovegroundstoragetanks/Pages/ASTContacts.aspx

Should farmers have further questions they may contact Bob Tabb at the West Virginia Department of Agriculture by calling 304-229-5828 or via email at btabb@wvda.us
