The Flanagan Hill Development Corporation held their annual Fall Festival on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Flanagan Hill Community Building in Red Creek.

Numerous activities were scheduled throughout the day, including a Roast Beef dinner; a Chinese Auction, which consisted of various items donated by local businesses; children’s games and a pony to ride; a cross cut saw competition; bingo and an evening cake walk.

Live entertainment was provided by the Mark Bennett Group (Bluegrass Express) of Burlington, WV.

This year’s event also included the crowning of a queen of the Fall Festival. Four young ladies from the surrounding area participated in selling chances for prizes, which included a first prize of a Stihl power saw, a second prize of $150 cash and a third prize of tickets to the American Mountain Theater. The girls participating were Addison Hunt, Zoie Davis, Lilly Hedrick and Lindsey Thompson.

The winner of this year’s competition was Lilly Hedrick, daughter of Scott Hedrick of Elkins and Kristen Hedrick also of Elkins. First runner-up was Zoie Davis, daughter of Jesse and Melissa Davis of Dry Fork; second runner-up was Lindsey Thompson, daughter of DJ and Janice Thompson of Bowden and third runner-up was Addison Hunt, daughter of Bobby and Malinda Hunt of Red Creek. All together the girls raised $2700, which along with the rest of the day’s proceeds goes toward the maintenance and upkeep of the Community Bldg.

County Sheriff, Brian Wilfong was invited to the Festival to crown the queen.
