Flanagan Hill Fall Festival

The Flanagan Hill Development Corporation held the annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014 at the Flanagan Hill Community Building in Red Creek.

Rosenau and Queen courtNumerous activities were scheduled throughout the day, including a Roast Beef dinner; a Chinese Auction, which consisted of various items donated by local business; children’s games; a cross cut saw competition; corn hole tournament; cakewalk. The live entertainment was provided by the Mark Bennett Group (Bluegrass Express) of Burlington.

This year’s event was highlighted by the crowning of a queen of the Fall Festival. Several young ladies from the surrounding area participated in selling chances for prizes, which included a first prize of a $300 gift card to Cabellas, a second prize of $200 cash and third prize of a $50 gift card to the Golden Anchor Restaurant. The girls participating were Jordan Teter, Lilly Hedrick, Zoie Davis, Caroline Bonner, Lindsey Thompson and Addison Hunt.

The winner of the competition was Zoie Davis, daughter of Jesse and Melissa Davis of Dry Fork. She sold 1790 chances. First Runner Up was Lilly Hedrick, daughter of Scott and Kristen Hedrick of Elkins. She sold 1242 chances and Second Runner Up was Jordan Teter, daughter of Asa and Mae Teter of Red Creek.

The coronation of the Queen was held in front on the community building and she was crowned by Mike Rosenau, County Commissioner.

Altogether the girls raised $3,150, which along with the rest of the proceeds, goes toward the upkeep and maintenance of the Flanagan Hill Community Building.
