The WVU Extension Service, in collaboration with the WV Department of Agriculture and the Value Chain Cluster Initiative, is hosting a free workshop for individuals who are interested in learning about the specific regulations regarding packaging and labeling homemade or home grown products for retail sale. The workshop will be held on February 22 at the Belington Fire Hall from 1 to 4 p.m.

The objective of this training is to help producers, farmers market vendors, and food business owners comply with labeling regulations for retail sale of produce, meats, eggs, and value-added products. We will also be covering topics related to obtaining a bar code or UPC code to broaden your marketing options, and how to develop an attractive and functional label for your products. To register or for more information please contact the Barbour County Extension Office at 304-457-3254 or the Tucker County Extension Office at 304-478-2949 x. 209. Pre-registration is due by Feb. 19. Light refreshments will be provided.
