ELKINS, W.Va. — The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service is restricting public access to sections of Forest Road 19 within the Monongahela National Forest to protect public health and safety during construction activities.
The closure order will go into effect on September 14, 2026, at 12:01 AM and remain in effect until September 25, 2026.
Order Number 09-21-01-26-07 prohibits traffic on Forest Road 19 in places beyond any road-construction barriers, including Type 3 barricades, lighted signage, traffic cones, or similar devices placed to restrict public access. Closure will begin at the intersection of Forest Road 75 and Forest Road 19 and continue 5.3 miles in an easterly direction to the intersection of County Road 28 and Forest Road 19, as depicted in Exhibit A.
Residents and landowners may access their property from the intersection of Forest Road 75 or County Road 28, depending on the property location. Through traffic is prohibited.
Visitors are asked to respect all posted closures and avoid attempting to bypass the affected area. Updates will be shared on the Monongahela National Forest website and social media as new information becomes available.
