Tucker Animal Shelter announced the 2016-2017 focus program for the year; “Spay and Neuter Your Pets.” This program will focus on three goals; community awareness and the importance of spaying and neutering your animals, the financial help available to defray the cost to spay and neuter an animal, and a feral cat spay-neuter-release program in communities in Tucker County to help control the pet population. In order to meet these goals, the Friends of the Tucker County Animal Shelter are working hard to raise money to support this new focus. This program is not able to be supported by the small annual budget received from the County used for the daily operation of the Tucker County Animal Shelter so it is imperative that we find other ways to support this goal monetarily.
The Friends of the Tucker County Animal Shelter, a non-profit group formed to help the Tucker County Animal Shelter, have created a “Run For It” Team to help raise money for our goals. “Run For It” is a 5K run or 2K walk being held in Davis, WV on September 24. Anyone is welcome to join the team and run or walk for this cause. If you are not able to participate that day you can still support by sponsoring The Friends of the Tucker County Animal Shelter, by sending in a donation. These donations qualify as a charitable contribution and the team will receive 100% of the donations for the cause.
As a way to earn money for our “Run For It” fund, The Friends of the Tucker County Animal Shelter will be holding a Yard Sale on Aug. 6 from 8 am – noon at the Tucker Valley Annex Gym. If you have items you would like to donate for the yard sale, bring them to the Animal Shelter or contact Kim Falls at 304-642-2341 to arrange for pick-up. Also, contact Falls if interested in joining the Run For It team.
By working together as a community, we can continue to support the Tucker County Animal Shelter and help control our pet population so all pets in Tucker County are well taken care of.
