McHenry, MD – The Garrett College Foundation is hosting a free estate-planning seminar on Tuesday, November 10 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Garrett College’s conference center.

Individuals interested in attending the event – titled Lunch, Learn & Leave a Legacy – may register with Janet Kepple ([email protected] or 301.387.3023). Seating is limited; the deadline to register is November 3.

Three First United Bank & Trust vice presidents – Keith Sanders (chief wealth officer), Annette Chapman (senior wealth advisor), and Christine Sisler (director of wealth management sales) – will jointly discuss best practices in estate planning. Janet Kepple, a member of the Garrett College Foundation team, will provide an overview of planned giving and discuss strategies individuals can use to incorporate charitable gifts into their estate plans.

“Estate planning is an important part of preparing for the future and ensuring that the people and causes most meaningful to you are remembered,” said Kepple. “We hope this seminar will provide our community with helpful information and introduce individuals to the many ways they can incorporate charitable giving into their estate plans to create a lasting legacy.”

Julia Hoffmann, a member of the Garrett College Foundation Board of Directors, will discuss her experiences in developing charitable gifts within an estate. Hoffman and fellow Foundation Board Director Katie Alvarez worked with the Garrett College Foundation Office to develop the estate-planning seminar.

Attendees will be offered an opportunity to tour Garrett College’s McHenry campus immediately following the seminar.

Kepple said the Foundation and First United are planning another seminar on April 21, 2027, for interested individuals who can’t attend the November event.
