Governor Patrick Morrisey announced Aug. 7 the award of $85,885.07 in Child Advocacy Center (CAC) Grant funding to the Randolph Tucker Children’s Advocacy Center. The award was part of more than $2.1 million awarded across the State of West Virginia to CAC centers.
The grants are designed to strengthen the state’s multidisciplinary response to child abuse and neglect by supporting advocacy, forensic interviews, medical evaluations, counseling, education and other critical services for child victims, the Governor said.
The funds, according to the Governor, will provide forensic interviews, medical services, mental health services and advocacy for child victims and their non-offending caregivers in Tucker and Randolph Counties.
“Protecting West Virginia’s children is one of our most important responsibilities,” Governor Morrisey said. “These grants ensure that children who have experienced abuse receive the care, advocacy, and support they need while helping law enforcement, prosecutors, medical professionals, and child advocates work together to pursue justice and protect our most vulnerable citizens.”
