Eglon, WV – Horizons Academy, a growing Christian microschool, is proud to announce an exciting partnership with Hope, Love, and Charity at the Smallest Church to construct a new community center and educational facility. The building will be located on the historic grounds of Our Lady of the Pines – The Smallest Church in 48 States, a beloved landmark in Preston County.

The new facility will house Horizons Academy’s expanding student body and will feature:

  • Dedicated classrooms for individualized and small-group learning

  • A multipurpose activity space for events, recreation, and enrichment programs

  • A fully equipped commercial kitchen to support community meals and student food programs

This collaboration is driven by a shared mission to serve local families and provide a nurturing, faith-centered educational environment. With plans to break ground in August, the project represents a vital step forward for both the school and the surrounding community.

“This new facility will not only meet the immediate needs of Horizons Academy’s students, but also provide a space where neighbors can come together, serve one another, and grow in faith and fellowship,” said Michelle Berry, Director of Horizons Academy.

Individuals or organizations interested in supporting this project or learning more are encouraged to contact: Michelle Berry at horizonsacademy23@gmail.com. Tax-deductible donations may be sent to: Horizons Academy P.O. Box C Aurora, WV 26705. Please note “Building Fund” in the memo line.

Stay tuned for updates as Horizons Academy and Hope, Love, and Charity bring this vision to life at one of West Virginia’s most unique and cherished landmarks.
