Bridgeport, W.Va.—Dr. John Dugas is joining Bridgeport Pediatrics, having finished his pediatric residency at the West Virginia University School of Medicine.
He graduated from WVU summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in exercise physiology with a health profession emphasis, and then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine at the WVU School of Medicine.
While a student, he was recognized as the outstanding senior resident and intern in Outpatient Pediatrics; recipient of the NICU Resident Award; served as vice president of the WVU School of Medicine’s MedCoach Program; served as vice president of the Sports Medicine Interest Group; and received scholarships based on his academic achievements.
His professional experience includes working as a perioperative care assistant at Ruby Memorial Hospital; serving as a graduate research assistant in the WVU Department of Exercise Physiology; and working as a student teaching assistant in the WVU Department of Biology.
He holds certification in basic life support, advanced cardiovascular life support, neonatal resuscitation, and pediatric advanced life support.
Dr. Dugas continues to participate in ongoing research projects and has been a co-author for articles in several medical publications.
Community service involvement includes a Honduras mission trip; Habitat for Humanity; organizing a charity flag football tournament; and participating in Stepping Stones, Relay for Life, Trunk or Treat, Pump N Run, and the Morgantown Marathon.
In his off hours, Dr. Dugas enjoys various sports, running, outdoor activities and traveling.
