Jeffery “Scott” Long

Jeffery “Scott” Long 54, a resident of Montrose, passed from this life on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Mon General Hospital in Morgantown. He had been in declining health however, death was unexpected.

Scott was born Monday, February 15, 1971, in Parsons, a son of the late Robinson Crusoe Long and Carol Sue Mason Long. He was never married.

Left to cherish Scott’s memory are three sisters, Mary Long, Donna Lipscomb, and Debbie Youtzy, three brothers, Rob Long, John Long and Tim Long, and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Scott in death besides his parents was a brother, Mike Long.

Scott graduated from Tucker County High School with the Class of ’91. He had been employed with several power stations, Canaan Valley Resorts, Ricottelli Lumber, Cupps dairy farm, and Bruce Hardwood. Scott enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to stockyards. He attended the Believers Fellowship Church. Scott loved spending time with his family.

Visitation will be held at Hostetler Funeral Home on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm, the funeral hour. Rev. Terry Canon will officiate, and interment will follow at Parsons City Cemetery. The Hostetler Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for Jeffery Scott Long.
