DAVIS – Angie Shockley of the Leaf Peepers Festival said this year’s Talent Show showcased the most talented lineup of contestants she had ever seen.
“It was truly a difficult job for the judges and all scores were extremely close,” she said. “This year we had one show instead of two with a preliminary competition on Friday and the final competition on Saturday. This opened the show up to contestants who travel from more distant areas.”
Shockley said there were contestants from as far as three hours away.
“Talents included singing, playing instruments and tumbling/dance,” she said. “We had 12 contestants and the biggest crowd to date. We look forward to continued growth in the years to come. The Talent Show is a great opportunity for local talents to gain experience performing in from of an audience. I have seen such incredibly talented folks and that makes my work a joy!
Winners in the children’s division are first, Marissa Mallow and second, Ella Spencer. Teen winners are first, Sadie Palmer, second, Lindsey Hull and third, Ariana Villar. Adult winners were first, Hannah Shaffer, second, Emily Butcher and third place tie winners Emily Grogg and Alex Swanson.
Judges for the event were Jay Hamric, Kim Wilfong and Chris Michael. Volunteers were Sandy Schmiedeknect and Keith Bishop. The show was sponsored by Q&A Associates and the stage was sponsored by Frontier Communications. Joyful Productions provided the sound equipment and management.
This is the 4th year for the Leaf Peepers Festival Talent Show.
