Buckhannon, WV – HomePlus of Buckhannon is sponsoring a free informational event for those diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease on February 10th at the Lewis County Senior Center.

Licensed Respiratory Therapists Haley Wilson and Donna Snider will lead the session and provide information about understanding a COPD diagnosis including implementing new lifestyle choices and learning self-care skills.

“There are many measures one can take to manage COPD more effectively,” said Wilson, C-RT. “By attending this workshop patients and their family members will learn ways to keep their lungs healthy, how to monitor their condition, therapy choices and more.”

Some common questions patients have about COPD include:

  • What triggers my COPD?
  • Can the progression of COPD be stopped?
  • Does my diet affect my COPD?
  • How do I sleep better?

The event targets seniors but is open to the public. Time will be allotted for individual questions and answers.

HomePlus provides comprehensive in-home services including home respiratory care, home medical care and home health care. Two convenient locations in Buckhannon and Elkins provide service to Lewis, Upshur, Randolph, Tucker, Braxton, Webster, Pocahontas, Pendleton, Taylor, Preston and Grant Counties. HomePlus’ Licensed Respiratory Therapists have experience and skilled training in the assessment, treatment and management of COPD.
