“Tucker County Day” is an event at the Capitol to highlight the region’s strengths while letting state representatives know how they can help local businesses and organizations thrive. “Our local businesses, schools and organizations have a lot to be proud of. This day will shine a spotlight on our achievements” said Development Authority Director Anne Jones.
The Day begins at 9 a.m. with an amazing breakfast of local foods. Tucker County High School’s Chef Covell will bring his students down to cook and serve a breakfast of local sausage, eggs and buckwheat cakes, biscuits and jams to members of the statehouse.
During the day there will be meetings with state delegates and senators as well as members from the DOH, Dept of Agriculture, and Commerce. These meetings, which will be shared with Preston County, will provide a valuable opportunity to speak directly the decision makers in Charleston.
There will also be an entire hallway dedicated to Tucker County for businesses and organizations to share information. In the afternoon all Tucker County residents will be invited to sit in the House of Representatives while the proclamation to make February 5th “Tucker County Day” is announced.
Thanks to the gracious support from local sponsors, everyone is welcome to participate. Any business or organization that plans to attend in person, must register by Monday January 27. Registration forms can be found online at www.tuckerwv.com or can be picked up at Parsons City Hall or Mt. Top Library.
All participants will need to provide three sentences about their business or organization. These talking points, which will be made into a booklet for state representatives should be positive, memorable and specific to the organization. By having a booklet of facts about every participant, will ensure that everyone is well represented.
If you cannot attend in person, but would like to have your information shared, please contact the Development Authority at Tuckercounty@gmail.com
Performance Motors, Kokosing Corp, Mt. State Brewing, McClain Printing, Parsons OnTrac and Tucker Community Foundation are this years sponsors for Tucker County Day February 5.
