The Mountaineer Days committee has finalized plans for the annual 4th of July activities held in Thomas. On Friday, June 30, the events will kick-off with a hot dog sale at the Thomas Fire Hall beginning at 4 p.m. This will be followed by a cakewalk and silent auction starting at 5:30 p.m.

The evening will conclude with a block party at 7 p.m. featuring music by “Triple S”.
Saturday’s events will begin at 10 a.m. when the vendor area will open on the railroad grade with craft, food, and other vendors.

Activities for the day include a patriotic bicycle decorating contest sponsored by Thomas Yard, parade, water battle, cakewalk sponsored by the Mountaineer Humane Society, and musical entertainment. The band “Allies” will kick-off the evening’s musical entertainment at 4 p.m. “Elvis” will return for a 6:30 p.m. performance.

The “Triple S” Band” will round out the musical entertainment from 8 p.m. until the fireworks begin. The grand finale of the evening will be the annual fireworks sponsored by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department.

Sunday’s events include a pancake breakfast at the Thomas Fire Hall.
Commemorative T-shirts will be on sale throughout the week-end.

Anyone wishing to set up a vendor booth must contact Mary Sagace at 463-4131 or e-mail at msagace@gmail.com. All vending must be done on the railroad grade. Vendors are encouraged to reserve a space as soon as possible, but no later than June 15. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. You may mail donations to Mountaineer Days, PO Box 146, Thomas, WV 26292.
