The Mountaineer Days committee has listed final plans for the annual 4th of July activities held in Thomas. Currently there are no events scheduled for Friday evening so that the THS-MHS alumni may gather for their reunion. Visitors are encouraged to shop the local businesses on that day.

Saturday’s events will begin at 9 a.m. with the Walk and Roll for Life event. At 10 a.m. the vendor area will open on the railroad grade with craft, food, and other vendors. Activities for the day include a patriotic bicycle decorating contest, parade, water battle, cakewalk, and musical entertainment. Holly Ash will kick-off the evening musical entertainment at 4 p.m. “Elvis” will also return in the evening. The “Last Chance Band” will round out the musical entertainment. The grand finale of the evening will be the annual fireworks sponsored by the Thomas Volunteer Fire Department.

Sunday’s events include a pancake breakfast at the Thomas Fire Hall.

Commemorative T-shirts will be on sale throughout the week-end. The committee is hoping to expand the events and activities in the future. Any donations would be greatly appreciated. You may mail donations to Mountaineer Days, PO Box 146, Thomas, WV 26292.

Anyone wishing to set up a vendor booth must contact Mary Sagace at 463-4131 or e-mail at msagace@frontiernet.net. All vending must be done on the railroad grade. Vendors are encouraged to reserve a space as soon as possible, but no later than June 15.
