Representatives from Davis Medical Center and the WVU Cancer Institute join architects and engineers in planning the construction of the linear accelerator vault on the campus of the DMC Cancer Care Center.

Elkins, WV — Physicians, planners, architects, engineers and others recently gathered to finalize plans for the construction of a vault at the Cancer Care Center in Elkins, which will hold a new, state-of-the-art TrueBeam® linear accelerator.

“We will break ground later this month with a projected complete date of three to six months,” said Duane Boyce, B.S., CMD, RT (R)(T), Cancer Center Director. “The project will greatly enhance cancer care for patients in communities throughout our 8-county service area.”

According to Boyce, TrueBeam® is a leading edge radiotherapy system designed for the treatment of cancer anywhere in the body where radiation treatment is indicated, including lung, breast, prostate, and head and neck.

In 2017, the WVU Cancer Institute and Davis Medical Center affiliated for cancer services.  The partnership is improving cancer care by bringing new technology, like the linear accelerator, to the region.
