Newly constructed townhomes in Davis seeking qualified tenants

Eight (8) brand new two-bedroom townhouse rental apartments are nearing completion on Blackwater Avenue in Davis. The two buildings include six (6) two-story townhouse units and two (2) one-story accessible apartments. With the hopes of move-in availability for late September/early October, Woodlands Development Group is now accepting applications for lease-up.

On Wednesday, August 18th between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at Davis Town Hall, staff will be on site to provide and accept applications for potential renters. If possible, interested applicants should bring 8 weeks of paystubs or a current Social Security letter to expedite the application process.

Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received. A waiting list will be kept once units are filled. Monthly rents will range between $511 and $544, with water, sewer, and trash collection included. Tenant pays gas and electric.

The apartments are partially funded by the WV Housing Development Fund, and are intended to provide housing to working families or seniors already residing in the area that they can afford. As a result, the tenant income cannot exceed the following limits for the following household sizes:

Household size: 1 person 2 person 3 person 4 person
  $24,600 $28,080 $31,620 $35,100

Community development nonprofit organization, Woodlands Development Group, has been working actively with local leaders and groups for several years to find ways to address the severe shortage of available, quality, workforce housing in the county. This is the first in a series of planned projects that will provide more housing units and local ownership to retain Tucker County’s workers and families who are being actively displaced by an increasingly expensive housing market and a scarcity of adequate and available homes.

If you are interested in applying but can’t make it to Davis Town Hall on August 18th, or you have any questions about the units or eligibility requirements, please contact Michele Teter, Property Manager, at 304-636-6495 ext. 18 or by email at mteter@rchawv.org. If you have questions about workforce housing initiatives and partnerships in Tucker County, please contact Emily Wilson-Hauger at ewilson-hauger@wdgwv.org.
