Earlier this year, the City of Parsons was selected as one of six new Blueprint Communities in West Virginia. This program assists with building strong local leadership, strengthening partnerships, and laying the foundation for community development by working with the community to develop a strategic action plan towards success.

To celebrate the kickoff of this process, there will be a community event and ice cream social on Friday, July 19 from 5 P.M to 6 P.M. in Mill Race Park. A free Gospel Sing concert featuring local talent will follow the ice cream social at 6 P.M. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets!

The Ice Cream Social is free and open to the public. During the event, residents can learn more about the Blueprint Communities Program and how it can assist with community revitalization. As a member of the community, every resident plays an instrumental role in the Blueprint Communities process. During this kick-off event, citizens will have the opportunity to share their unique perspectives on priorities that will help strengthen the community, while also communicating their future vision for Parsons.

Blueprint Communities was created in 2005 by the Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLBank) of Pittsburgh. The FHLBank has collaborated with The West Virginia Community Development Hub (the Hub) to support a team of people from Parsons to facilitate the planning process, host input sessions, and undergo a trainings to acquire the knowledge needed to develop an action plan.
