Parsons VFD recently updated their Wilderness Search and Rescue/Urban Rescue capabilities. PVFD purchased a new UTV and trailer with funds from the City of Parsons Fire Service Fee and matching funds from department fundraisers held over the last two years.  PVFD Chief Kevin White stated “We have investigated the need and feasibility of the purchase for several years .Along with what equipment would serve our department best. With the increasing outdoor recreation in our response area we felt that now was the time. The unit was placed in service one month ago and has already played a primary role in the rescue mission of a lost hiker. Without the UTV our men would have possibly been forced to spend the night in the woods with the individual or add another 4-5 hours to what turned out to be a 14 hour 16 mile rescue. The Mayor and Council has been an important part of our ability to provide quality services to the residents of our response area. We stand ready to answer the call with 40 plus highly trained members.”
