The Parsons Parks and Recreation Commission (PPRC) received grant funds from the Louise Harman Memorial Fund to help replace the train set at Mill Race Park.
“The original train set donated by Jack the King (a local business in downtown Parsons that closed many years ago) was showing its age after many years of use,” said PPRC President Kennetha Greenlief. “So we took advantage of applying for these funds through the Tucker Community Foundation to not only replace ours, but to add a bigger one. We are always looking for ways to improve our park system.” The old train set was donated to the Town of Hendricks.
“We purchased our choo choo train four piece amish playset from Cabinfield for $3,569,” said City Administrator and Treasurer Jason Myers. “After receiving grant funds of $2,000, the PPRC’s monetary match was only $1,569. We can’t thank the Tucker Community Foundation enough for awarding funds to our project.”
