The awards program and reception for the Start’s Student Art Show is scheduled for Sunday, May 6 from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the Davis Fire Hall.  This is in order to allow members of the community an opportunity to vote for first, second and third place, People’s Choice Awards.  The Davis Fire Hall will be open Saturday, May 5 from 2 – 5 p.m. and again Sunday from noon until the awards program begins at 3:30 p.m.

In order to encourage and support students who participate in the arts, the WV Highlands Artisans Group sponsors the annual Start (School-Town Art) Student Art Show to recognize and reward art.  A display is presented of works completed by Tucker County students in grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Additionally, the towns of Thomas, Davis and Parsons present awards to students for their projects.  The Davis Volunteer Fire Department also recognizes student work with an award.  A Best of Show is presented as well. The Tucker Community Foundation sponsors three People’s Choice Awards.

Once the Student Art Show is completed, all student work will be on display in county businesses through the month of May.  The prize winning works will be brought together in a special gallery during ArtSpring held Memorial Day weekend.
