The Mountaineer Garden Club selected its Yard-of-the-Month recipients for September.
First notable homeowner is Kim Sprout whose home is located in the 300 block of Walnut Street. Many floral delights attract one’s attention throughout her yard.
Around the exterior of her yard are many Rose-of-Sharons with pink/purple blooms that create a nice privacy border.
Bordering her garage is quite a lush display of 6-to-8-foot dahlias surrounding the exterior wall along with morning glories in surrounding locations that grab your attention.
Additionally, beautiful red cannas brighten the alley along 2 other exterior walls and within their vegetable/floral and berry garden which is well tended to and inviting.
The next beautiful home is located along the Blackman Flats River Road and goes to Rhonda and Mike Adkins.
Lush green ferns line their front porch with cascading baskets of purple/fuchsia petunias. While planters along the front porch are filled with multiple colors of yellow, orange and rust/red begonias, the colors all brightly hued.
The last recognition for the month of September goes to the St. John’s Church.
Their fall display is filled with colorful yellow and orange mums, bright orange pumpkins and lovely fall wreaths with cascading orange gauzy ribbons.
