
Spooky season has arrived in Tucker County and with it, the ghosts and goblins have already begun to mingle in the falling leaves, which has inspired many fun family activities across the county for all ages.
On Friday, Oct. 9 in St. George at the St. George Park, The Tucker County Family Support Center will host a Fall Festival. This year’s event will feature corn, pumpkins, snacks and a storytelling hay ride! There will be an interactive reading of “There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Cow.” The Fall Festival begins at 5:30 p.m. and all ages are welcome.
Saturday, Oct. 10 in Flanagan Hill, there will be a Trunk or Treat at the Flanagan Hill Community Building at Red Creek. All little ghouls and goblins welcome to come dressed up for a chance to win a door prize and receive a goody bag. Anyone wanting to set up a trunk, please contact the Flanagan Hill Community Building Facebook page for more information or ask any current board member. This event is free to the public.
This year’s Sticks & Stones Festival, presented by Emerald Tree Boutique and Sisters Witches, will be held Oct. 16-17 in Davis. “The Magic is returning to Davis!” This year’s theme is slated to delve into Granny Witch magic and Appalachian witchcraft with a look at the Maiden, Mother and Crone and the different roles they have held in Appalachian tradition.
On Friday, Oct. 16, there will be a welcome gathering at Ish Kitchen at the Billy Motel from 8 p.m. onwards.
On Saturday, Oct. 17 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. will be the Sticks & Stones Festival in Downtown Davis. An official Sticks & Stones After Party is scheduled at Stumptown Ales from 7 p.m. onwards. “Come for the magic. Stay for the mischief. We’ll see you in the mountains.” This event is free and open to the public.
Cortland Acres Health and Rehabilitation will host a Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 22 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. in the front parking lot for ghouls and goblins of all ages. This event promises candy, fun and friends. Cortland Acres is located at 39 Cortland Acres Lane in Thomas. Contact Cortland Acres for more information. This event is free and open to the public.
The City of Parsons “Which Way to the Treats!” will be held Saturday, Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mill Race Park Main Pavilion. The City of Parsons will provide tables for anyone who would like to participate and set up along the trail to pass out goodies. To reserve a table, call (304) 478-2311.
“We invite all businesses, churches, organizations, community groups, families and anyone who would like to participate to come set up a table along the trail and help make Halloween extra special for our local children. Decorate your space, dress up in costume, hand out treats and be part of a fun-filled community celebration!” the City of Parsons announced.
The City of Parsons Trick-or-Treat will follow from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. throughout the City of Parsons.
