The small town of St. George will come together on Saturday, June 23 and Sunday, June 24 to celebrate the history of the community.  St. George was the first town settled in our area.  It was the first county seat and had the first courthouse.  It also had the first news paper and first school of higher education.  A lot of our history has been forgotten and this is one way we can get people interested in the heritage of the town.

There will be a display of community and church pictures and stories of the past for reading and viewing.  The United Methodist Women will be serving food for all to enjoy beginning at 10 a.m.  There are yard sales, silent auctions and much more.  At 6 p.m. a cake walk will be held at the St. George Church pavilion.

The St. George Academy will be open for everyone to enjoy items from our past.  It will be opened by Bud and Jane Parsons.  The Academy is still in the process of raising money for the new roof.  Any donations to the project will be put to good use by the community.

On Sunday, we start the day with church services at 10 a.m.; Sunday school at 11 a.m.; a covered dish meal starts at 1 p.m. and a community sing will begin at 2 p.m.

All proceeds from this event go for mission projects supported by the United Methodist Women.  Come out and join us for a weekend of fun and education about the past.
