The St. George United Methodist Women met Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, at 7 p.m. at the church.  Several members contributed encouraging readings on various topics including the latest blog information on our pastor, Neal Precht.  An article entitled, “Surviving Domestic Violence” was read from Response Magazine.  After roll call in which members answered with a bible verse, the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports were read.  October’s In-County and Out-Of-County Missions will be donations to the Four Leaf Clovers 4-H Club and to Scott’s Run Settlement, respectively.  A report was given by those who had attended the Fall Mtg. in Short Gap, WV, on Sept. 14.

October is a busy month containing the Annual Mtg. in Charleston, local unit elections, as well as the St. George Community Fall Festival to be held at St. George Park on Oct. 12 from 2-7 p.m. The festival will provide games, food, wing cook-off, and a cakewalk. Tonight’s lesson was taught by Carol Weinstein on “The Twelve”. We looked into lessons of leadership from the apostles, explored why there were specifically twelve apostles, and ended with a fun quiz/review.  Those attending were:  Juanita Nestor, Priscilla Flanagan, Lucille Adams, Melinda Pennington, Jane Pifer, Carol Weinstein, Judy Fairbanks, and Lynnette Adams.
