STArt 2018 Student Art Show Award Winners

Awards were presented to K – 12 students at the all-county STArt Student Art Show at the Davis Fire Hall, recently.  WVHighlands Artisans Group  presents the exhibition annually of work submitted by students of Davis-Thomas Elementary, Tucker Valley Elementary Middle, and Tucker County High Schools, as well as home-schooled students of the Mountain Laurel Learning Cooperative.

This year there were 222 art works by 161 students, judged by Kevin Woodcock, Assistant Professor of Art at Davis and Elkins College in Elkins.  People’s Choice voting, sponsored by Tucker Community Foundation ,opened to the public on Saturda

Each student whose work was on display received a certificate of participation and a miniature art work by Seth Pitt, of the White Room, Creature, and Santangelo in Thomas. County art teachers are: Mary Waters, TCHS; Chelsi Primavero, DTEMS; Olivia Snider, TVEMS; and David Nelson, TCHS Career Development Center.
