The Tucker County Giving Circle (TCGC) was pleased to partner with Tucker County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in their effort to place a “Stop the Bleed” kit in each public or private K-12 classroom in Tucker County.
The idea to place “Stop the Bleed” kits in each classroom was brought to TCGC by Amanda Simmons, Director of the Tucker County Ambulance Authority. Currently, emergency equipment is kept in central hallways in the school. Providing a specialized “Stop the Bleed” kit in each classroom facilitates a much quicker response in the event of a severe bleeding episode, especially if the school is in a lockdown situation.
With a $1443 grant from TCGC, EMS personnel and volunteers were able to assemble 80 “Stop the Bleed” kits, enough to place one in each classroom in Tucker County. These kits will be distributed and available in the classrooms prior to the start of the school year in September.
TCGC’s mission is to support women and children in Tucker County. All TCGC grants are funded by donations from members of the organization and administered by the Tucker Community Foundation. Since the organization’s inception in 2020, TCGC has provided over $70,000 to organizations that support women and children in Tucker County.
Any non-profit, church, or government entity in Tucker County is eligible to apply for a TCGC grant between now and 3pm on September 19. Applications are available on the Tucker Community Foundation website, https://tuckerfoundationwv.org/
