This fall, grants totaling $75,000 will be awarded to benefit projects and programs in the region served by Tucker Community Foundation. The grant cycle opened August 1 and continues through mid-September. Applications can be downloaded or picked up the TCF Development Office in Davis or the main office in Parsons. Applicants should use the mini-grant application for requests under $500. All applications are due (postmarked) by 4pm Friday, September 16.
Grants supporting youth, historic preservation, the arts, senior citizens, education, health, libraries, literacy programs, and other charitable causes will benefit nonprofits in Barbour, Grant, Mineral, Preston, Pocahontas, Randolph, and Tucker counties in West Virginia; and Garrett County in Maryland. Awards are based on a competitive application process. Grant funds are provided by donors who have established endowed funds and other unrestricted income of the Foundation.
Preston County non-profit organizations can apply for grant support from the Preston Community Fund, an unrestricted endowment that generates awards based on recommendations from the Preston County Advisory Committee and approval by the Tucker Community Foundation Board of Directors.
New funds that will generate additional competitive grant awards this year include the Tucker County Economic and Community Development Fund (aka TED Fund), the Ryan Patrick Gosa Fund, and the Albert & Francis Kerzic Fund.
The TED Fund was established on a dollar-for-dollar challenge-match by the Foundation. Donors quickly met the challenge and as a result, the first grant will be awarded this fall. The TED Fund supports activities related to job creation, job retention and general improvements to the business climate of Tucker County. TED grants may be used for community development activities; construction of public facilities; and improvements, preservation, and restoration of historic properties.
The Ryan Patrick Gosa Fund is a donor-advised fund that supports liberal arts projects and programs in Tucker County related to journalism, theater arts, physical arts, STEAM Education, the social sciences, et al.
The Albert A. and Frances M. Kerzic Memorial Fund is intended to promote education, recreation, historic preservation, beautification and economic development for Davis, West Virginia, per recommendation of the donors.
Mini grants under $500 and other grants ranging from $500-$5,000 will be announced after the Foundation’s October 19 board meeting. Projects that are innovative and demonstrate impact are of particular interest to the committee.
