Tucker Community Foundation Honors Members of the PressTucker Community Foundation (TCF) honored local journalists and their respective newspapers last week for their part in furthering the cause and mission of the organization. Celebrating 25 years of service, Directors, staff and guests honored the press and reflected on a journey that has the organization positioned for future growth and impact.

Donna Patrick welcomed Penny Ellison of The Parsons Advocate (left) and Beth Broschart (right) of the InterMountain and with these words, “Ben Franklin once said ‘Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing’. We applaud you, our local journalists, for finding our plans, programs, goals and activities worth writing about. Your skills, talent and time commitment have made our efforts and achievements forever history in print.”

Patrick went on to say, “The invaluable role newspapers play in informing and educating the public was recognized by American philanthropist Warren Buffet when he said ‘The smarter the journalists are, the better off society is. For to a degree, people read the press to inform themselves – and the better the teacher, the better the student body.’ Thank you for educating the members of our community for the past 25 years. Your role as educators has been invaluable to our mission.”

Patrick has served on the TCF Board of Directors since 2001, filling the seat vacated by her late husband and former TCF President, Dr. Tom Patrick.

The public is welcome to visit the TCF Meeting Room to view volumes of press releases and photos that document the Foundation’s history. The Foundation’s main office is on the second floor of the Board of Education Annex located at 100 Education Lane in Parsons and a satellite office (Run For It HQ) is located at 737 William Ave. Davis.

The mission of Tucker Community Foundation is creating opportunities for the communities we serve. TCF manages endowed assets that serve eight counties in the Potomac Highlands region of West Virginia and Garrett County, MD.
