Davis, WV. The Tucker County Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for the 48th Annual Awards Banquet. The categories include but are not limited to.
• Educator of the Year: The nominee should be someone in the educational community who has gone the extra mile to educate and prepare our students.
• Student of the Year: This student should be someone that shows leadership qualities and compassion to their community and fellow students.
• Employee of the Year: This award is intended for someone who is committed and dedicated to a business or place of employment as if were their own.
• Business Person of the Year: This person should be an outstanding businessperson from our community. They should own or operate a business in Tucker County.
• Community Service Award: The award is intended for an individual that strives to make the county a better place through service to the community.
• Cultural Heritage and Arts: This award is intended to highlight a person or organization within the arts and/or historical preservation within community.
• Tuckineer: This secret award is for someone who is outstanding in his/her field and goes above and beyond the call of duty to make Tucker County a better place to live, work and own/operate a business through their public service to this community. The term “Tuckineer” is derived from “Tucker” and “Mountaineer”.
In years past “special awards” have been given to outstanding citizens or groups. Examples: Travel and Tourism Award, Athlete of the Year, Agriculture Award, Humanitarian and Friend, Outstanding Youth, Good Samaritan, Public Employee of the Year. Consider nominating outside the usual categories.

“Please remember to be as specific as possible when nominating! Explain in detail why you think this person should be recognized.” said Jessica Waldo, Chamber Executive Director. “The more details we have helps the secret committee pick a worthy candidate for each category.”

For the last 47 years, we’ve celebrated the best of Tucker County and this year is no exception. This banquet is held to recognize the outstanding Tucker Countians, that make Tucker County a better place to live, work and operate a business. Consider nominating someone for each category and encourage your friends. The more individual nominations, the better! Nominations for these awards are due to the Chamber office no later than the end of business on April 15th!
This year’s Award Banquet will be held at Canaan Valley Resort State Park on Thursday, May 21st in Bear Paw Lodge. During the banquet, we will recognize the 2025 winners! Award recipients, family and friends are invited. Community members are all welcomed and encouraged to attend. Tickets and tables need to be reserved in advance by contacting the Chamber office at 304-259-5315.
