Davis, WV. At the 2014 WV Governors Conference on Tourism’s “Stars of the Industry” Awards Banquet, the Tucker County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) came away with a state tourism award. Bill Smith and Jessica Scowcroft accepted a handmade Fenton Glass trophy from the WV Division of Tourism for the “Best Website”.
“In this day and age when vast amounts of travelers utilize the internet to make travel plans, this award reassures us that we are on the right tract” said CVB Executive Director Bill Smith. “To be recognized by our peers in the industry makes this award that much more important”, said Smith.
The West Virginia ‘Stars of the Industry’ awards are awarded annually at the WV Governor’s Conference on Tourism and entries are judged by tourism marketing professionals. “Best” categories awarded include Overall Advertising Campaign, Overall Marketing Campaign, Print Article, Print Photography Layout, Internet/E-Magazine Article, Broadcast, Website, and Social Media.
“Our website, canaanvalley.org, has been evolving over the years and now I think we have a good, informative site” said CVB Assistant Executive Director Jessica Scowcroft. “It couldn’t have become a reality without the technical and creative talents of our marketing firm, Stonewall Marketing and some fine photography provided by Randall Sanger Photography and Ludovic Moore” added Jessica.
Smith and Scowcroft also accepted a “Stars of the Industry” award for “Best Print Article” for Chasing Shadows, a story highlighting Mountain Biking in the Canaan Valley area. The story was written by Graham Averill with photography by Robin O’Neill and published in the November ’13 issue of Bike Magazine, a national publication.
