Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School Celebrates Veterans Day

Tucker Valley Elementary Middle School honored all veterans who served our country on November 8, 2013. Mrs. Tracey Chenoweth, Principal, welcomed attendees followed by a welcome from Carleigh Bolyard, Student Council President.

vet1Following the welcome, the 901st Min. Care Detachment, Fairmont, WV presented our Nation’s colors.

vet17The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Rorry Day followed by musical tributes including the Star Spangled Banner, sung by Hanna Hoskins and Aliyah Plum; This Land is Your Land by Zoie Witt; America March performed by the TVEMS Band under the direction of Rob Masten and America The Beautiful performed by the TVEMS Chorus, under the direction of Heather Lantz.

Following recognition of Special Guests by Tracy Chenoweth, Chris Chambers played taps. Closing remarks were made by Angie Humphrey followed by retirement of our Nation’s colors by the 901st Min. Care Detachment, Fairmont, WV.

The TVEMS Band played several musical selections and the Veterans were cordially invited to join the students in the school cafeteria, and students were dismissed after the guests left the gym.
