Recently Judge Phil Jordan announced that he is retiring. His replacement will be appointed by Governor Earl Ray Tomblin.
Six attorneys filed applications, with the Governor’s office, for the position: Jay Courrier, Prosecuting Attorney of Mineral County, John Ours, an attorney from Petersburg, Cody Pancake, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Mineral County, Andrea Roberts, Assistant Prosecuting Attorney of Harrison County and Jason Sites, an attorney with an office in Keyser.
The Governor’s office refers the applications to the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Committee for interviews.
These applications were interviewed by the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Committee on Sept. 29. On Oct. 1, the Advisory Committee submitted two names from the six of the applicants to Governor Tomblin for consideration for the appointment. The two names received by the Governor were Jay Courrier and John Ours. The Governor is expected to appoint Judge Jordan’s successor in the near future.
