Elkins, W.V. – The West Virginia Hardwood Alliance Zone (HAZ) continues to look for new opportunities for growth in the wood industry by showcasing the opportunities for new and existing companies in the nine county region.

HAZ recently attended two national trade shows to emphasize West Virginia’s commitment to the hardwood industry and businesses in efforts to encourage relocation, expansion and development in the nine-county region.

“We want to showcase to the world that West Virginia is a great place to do business, especially in this industry,” said Hardwood Alliance Zone President, Roberta Baylor. “By having a presence at trade shows we are able to market our region’s product and provide our current businesses with exposure for growth and expansion, while also recruiting new business opportunities to the state.”
Representatives of HAZ and the West Virginia Development Office travelled to the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta, Georgia and the National Hardwood Lumber Association Show in Washington D.C. These trade shows bring together material processing, design and hardwood industries from across the country. The shows facilitate interaction and networking opportunities and create opportunities to bring home knowledge of new technological advancements and innovations within the sector.

“The wood products industry is an economic engine in West Virginia. With the right opportunities, we can expand the potential in our region,” explained Baylor. “These opportunities are truly one of the best ways to get out the message of how great our state is for the hardwood industry and how businesses in the industry can benefit by locating here.”
