Morgantown, W.Va. – WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s continues to receive national recognition for its care of patients and their families.

“The Vizient ranking is a powerful testament to our team’s excellence and impact,” Rafka Chaiban, M.D., associate chief quality officer for WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s, said. “It affirms our place among the nation’s top-performing hospitals and reinforces the culture of compassion, innovation, and collaboration that defines our organization. This recognition not only celebrates our achievements but also inspires continued growth – serving as a catalyst for ongoing improvement and encouraging us to build on our strengths and pursue even higher standards of care.”

“This achievement highlights the incredible teamwork and dedication of our physicians, nurses, and staff who continuously focus on improving outcomes and ensuring every child receives the safest, highest-quality care possible,” Pavithra Ellison, M.D., associate chief quality officer for WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s, said.

Vizient Quality and Accountability Rankings are based on a comprehensive evaluation of 98 participating pediatric hospitals across the country in clinical performance and safety outcomes.

They evaluated key areas of patient experience and quality, including safety, mortality, effectiveness, efficiency, equity, and patient-centeredness.

Over the past year, physicians, nurses, and all clinical staff have collaborated to enhance patient care. The hospital formed a Patient Experience Committee to collect feedback from families and incorporate it into processes that promote safe, high-quality outcomes.

Significant improvements in Vizient metrics were achieved in WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s Asthma Program, Neonatology, and the Emergency Department.

“These results affirm that the commitment and collaboration of our teams are making a measurable difference,” Dr. Ellison said. “We will continue to strengthen our efforts to ensure that WVU Medicine Children’s delivers exceptional, safe, and high-quality care for every patient while maintaining a safe and supportive environment for our employees.”

Vizient’s rankings come just weeks after WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s was named the top hospital in West Virginia by U.S. News & World Report, underscoring its commitment to providing safe, high-quality, and compassionate care for patients and families in West Virginia and the surrounding region.
