Central Supply Company is opening a ready mix concrete plant in Parsons this spring.  “It’s a production facility, essentially, that stores aggregates and cements, and runs materials through the plant and then into the trucks,” President Dwayne McCartney said.

The plant will provide materials to Corridor H construction.  Central Supply Company was awarded a bid for supply on the current project in between Kerens and Parsons.  In reference to the decisions to supply Corridor H and to open a new location in Parsons, McCartney said, “It’s coming in a positive direction, so that has some influence on our decision, but it wasn’t the 100 percent deciding factor.”

The Parsons location may hire employees from Tucker County.  “We feel like there’s a possibility we will have some employees from Tucker County,” McCartney said.

He reported that some employees from other locations might transfer to the Parsons plant.  Staff will be intermittent depending on how many drivers are needed.  McCartney reported the location will likely staff two to six people.

“There will be some transfer of equipment to the new location as well,” he said.

The ready mix concrete will also be open to the general public.  “We do a lot of business in Tucker County and have for many years,” McCartney said.  Private home owners and businesses can purchase materials at the Parsons location.

The building that Central Supply Company will use is near the location of the old tannery, next to Mountain State Honey.

Central Supply Company also has an Elkins location.  “It’s ideal in the ready mix business to space businesses 45 minutes apart,” McCartney said.

Central Supply Company has nine ready mix concrete plants, one block plant, and five supply stores located throughout North and Central West Virginia, Southwest Pennsylvania, and Western Maryland.

According to their website, “In 2011, Central Supply joined Oldcastle Materials’ Mid-Atlantic Division. Oldcastle Materials, based in Atlanta, Georgia, is the leading vertically integrated supplier of aggregates, asphalt, ready mixed concrete and paving services in the United States with operations at 1,200 locations nationwide. The acquisition of Central Supply was Oldcastle’s first into ready mix concrete, block, and building material supplies in West Virginia.”
