On Friday, December 7, in conjunction with the annual Christmas meal at the Court House, Freddy Davis, election winner of the November general ballot, was sworn in as the new Tucker County Commissioner.

The Honorable Judge James Courrier took the honor of conducting the brief introduction and officially welcoming Davis to the Tucker County commission family.  Even though Davis has been sworn in and signed all necessary documentation, he does not officially take office until after the beginning of the New Year.

When Davis was asked how he felt being sworn in after such a long and grueling campaign trail, he responded with, “I was very nervous but I’m ready to go to work for Tucker County”.  I am excited to get started”, he added.  It was a special ceremony for Davis being surrounded by his family during his introductory to this elected position.  Wife Donna Snyder-Davis stated, “My heart was racing as I stood below the judge’s bench watching my husband raise his hand and take an oath.  I was so happy to witness such a wonderful adventure that my husband is ready to start.  Two of my children were there to witness it as well and we’re so excited for him and our county”.

Commissioner Patrick Darlington commented, “I am looking forward to working with Freddy.  With teamwork I’m sure we can bring some great things to the county”.  Commissioner Lowell Moore added, “On January 2, 2019 at 8 a.m., the commission will meet for the first meeting of the year and the first meeting for Mr. Davis.  A newly elected Commissioner is like a new employee starting a new job.  It requires learning and educating as to what the position requires.  We as commissioners will work together as a team in the future as we have in the past to serve the people of Tucker County”.

The first general session for the Tucker County Commission will be held Wednesday, January 9 at 9 a.m. in the traditional court room, and as always is open to the public.  Information pertaining to upcoming work sessions and meetings can be found on their website at www.tuckercountycommission.com
