PIERCE – The Fridley residence in Pierce on Pierce-Benbush Rd. was fully engulfed by flames last week. Thomas, Davis, Parsons, and Mt. Grove Fire Departments responded. The fire was spotted by a couple, Orville and Dorothy Cooper of Mt. Zion, (St. George area) who were driving by on their way to Oakland, Md. The couple spotted the smoke and knew “something didn’t look right” after pounding on the door they called 911 and reported the fire. The couple then went on to rescue the family’s two dogs which were located at the back of the house. Voluteer fire departments were called back to the scene later in the day for a rekindle.
